Leave the mod-cons at home and rediscover your survival instincts with a weekend in the wild. Say hello to your fellow survivors as you sort out equipment preparation and get some initial instruction. You’ll then set off together across a 500 acre site on an awareness walk using a map and compass, with training in all sorts of survival techniques – learn about edible plants, survival medicine, firelighting, skinning food (oh yes, this is proper survival), food preparation, collecting water and navigation. You’ll build your own shelter – make it a good one, you’ll be spending the night in it – before preparing your meal and cooking it over an open fire. Then bed down in your shelter for the night in the wilderness. Learn more survival techniques on Sunday and enjoy a survival-style Sunday lunch to wrap up your weekend.
Investigate the paranormal on a spooky all-night visit to a haunted hotspot. All of our locations have had recent reports of spectral activity, and with psychics, mediums and a host of specialist equipment (we’re not talking ghostbusters here, this is hi-tech!), your chances of experiencing some of the mysteries of the ‘other world’ are magnified. You’ll start with a health and safety briefing and a psychic and equipment workshop. Then you’ll go for a guided ghost walk, with a historian on hand to back up any psychic instincts you have about the venue and its spirits. Next you’ll split into groups to take part in experiments and vigils, before re-assembling for a group discussion. At some venues a light buffet is included. You’ll get two top-price tickets to your choice from the following list of West End shows (subject to availability): 39 Steps, Blood Brothers, Chicago, We Will Rock You, Buddy (to 6 Feb 2009), Woman in Black, Grease (matinees only) and Sound of Music (to 28 Feb 2009). You’ll be in the best seats available on the night in either the stalls or the dress circle, so you’ll have a fantastic view of the action. Then after the show, spend the night at a centrally located three star hotel (within London’s zone one). All hotel rooms are en-suite and offer a choice of twin or double bedroom. Breakfast is also included.
